So, you’ve focused on your career your whole life, but now, you’ve decided to start a family. Welcome to the club! The time has come for you and the first thing that comes to mind is “What’s gonna happen to the career I’ve worked so hard for!?”
Balancing your career and going through a life-changing event (like getting pregnant and deciding to have children) can be challenging, but it is possible with proper planning and support.
Unpopular opinion: I think I’ll be one of those women who will work until the last moment before giving birth… But while I take things slow and plan ahead for baby Leo to come, here are some things I’m applying in my pregnancy journey to make sure I keep a balance at work and at home.
Number 1: Just like we do, pre-belly, Planning your schedule is the key! Pregnancy can be tiring, and you may need to adjust your work schedule to manage fatigue and other symptoms. Advocate for flexible working hours. If you’re an entrepreneur, I’m sure you can be a bit more flexible with your time.
Number 2: Take care of yourself: Pregnancy requires extra self-care, such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and sufficient rest. It is important to minimize stress and load up on self-care to stay thriving.
Number 3: Seek support: Talk to your partner, family, and friends about your needs during this time. Also, find community groups for pregnant women to get advice and encouragement from mamas going through the same experience.
Remember, pregnancy is a unique experience for every woman, and it is important to prioritize your health and well-being. With careful planning and support, you can balance a career in television, like myself, or any field and carrying that belly!
