When it comes to pop culture no one is more connected to the pulse than Carolina Trejos.

As the current host of American Latino TV, the Colombian born journalist shares her passion for storytelling on LATV Networks’ longest-running production about Latino figures, athletes, artists making an impact in their fields.

Carolina is a tireless supporter of social entrepreneurship and women-empowerment projects. As the co-founder of Pinkafé, a podcast series, a TV show, and an overall community, Carolina aims to help women maximize their potential, live a balanced lifestyle and go after their dreams providing necessary tools and steps to move forward and make it happen.

Since 2016 was the face of People en Español’s People VIP, the first entertainment news show to be live-streamed for the magazine’s digital platform. She also worked behind the scenes to get the show off the ground to have it become one of the most recognized franchises at Meredith Corporation.

At People VIP, Carolina hosted over 250 shows that included celebrity news, current events coverage and interviews with A-listers like Jennifer López, Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro, Latin Grammy winner Chayanne, Spanish news icon Jorge Ramos and actress Roselyn Sánchez; as well as fashion, beauty and lifestyle segments, positioning the show as a go-to entertainment show among Latino Americans.

Carolina’s humble beginnings as Verizon Latino team emcee traveling America was the foundation for her appreciation for how Latino pop culture would impact her life. She collaborated with Hispanic media outlets at sponsored concerts, music festivals and entertainment industry events all across the United States for over five years. Eventually, her travels and later her education in journalism would soon take her to become an entertainment news correspondent and segment producer for En La Zona TV on LATV Networks.

“I was born in Pereira, the capital of the coffee region in Colombia, a country whose name today I strive to keep up high. As an immigrant, I have had the fortune to study in the United States and pursue my career internationally and become a multimedia journalist. I have had the opportunity to interview from presidents to great personalities of show business and dig deeper to get to know the message behind the artist and to share with my audience a little bit of them.”

Carolina Trejos is on her way to becoming not just a familiar face in the Latin entertainment space but also a positive role model pushing the causes and ethics she believes in to the forefront.

Soy una soñadora empedernida, apasionada de la vida, de la comunicación, de los cambios constantes y la evolución de la humanidad.

Siempre me gustó escribir. Fue la manera en que podía expresar mis sentimientos sin saber que algún día se convertiría en mi profesión. Fui una niña callada y un poco tímida, pero cuando creía que algo era injusto, era la primera en levantar la mano e informar.

Desde pequeñita fui amante del deporte. La disciplina, el compañerismo y aprender a valorar el trabajo en equipo en lugar de la competencia fueron solo algunas de las enseñanzas que me dejaron los campeonatos de natación, volleyball y atletismo de los que formé parte.

Durante mis primeros años de universidad, declaré mi especialización en sociología. Era activista y me metía en cuanta campaña de acción social encontraba. Fue allí donde descubrí que mi llamado era comunicar, educar y entretener, entonces me enamoré de mi carrera, comunicación social y periodismo.

Mientras estudiaba en la Universidad Internacional de la Florida (FIU) y hacía pausas temporales para trabajar tuve la oportunidad de viajar por todo Estados Unidos en giras de conciertos como animadora conduciendo festivales en vivo, eventos comunitarios, deportivos y actividades para niños. ¡Ahí me dieron un micrófono y se armó! Supe que podía ser una voz para la comunidad e hice mi misión traerles buenas noticias y un rato divertido.

Nací en Pereira, la capital del eje cafetero en Colombia, un país cuyo nombre hoy en día lucho por llevar en alto. Como inmigrante, he tenido la fortuna de estudiar en Estados Unidos y ejercer mi carrera internacionalmente a través de diferentes medios; televisión, medios digitales y editoriales. He tenido la oportunidad de entrevistar desde presidentes hasta grandes personalidades del espectáculo dando pie a conocer el mensaje detrás del artista y poder compartir con mi audiencia un poquito de ellos.

Mi espíritu de activista sigue intacto, me apasiona ayudar a mi comunidad, ser parte de campañas de empoderamiento para mujeres y espero seguir sirviendoles por más tiempo. ¡Vamos juntos en esta jornada tan gratificante que se llama vida!

Mi familia es mi fortaleza. Mis padres y mi hermana me enseñaron a tomar la próxima oportunidad sin miedo al cambio, aún así eso signifique dejarlo todo atrás para empezar de nuevo. Hoy es el primer día del resto de nuestras vidas. ¡Vamos!
